Christina Dages is the wife of a Matthew Dages - a former La Mesa (California) police officer who was recently acquitted of a felony count of falsifying a police report in connection with his high-profile arrest of a young black man last year. Matthew Dages was accused of lying about the basis of his May 27, 2020, arrest of Amaurie Johnson, which sparked protests in the East County city when a video of the arrest went viral. Johnson's arrest occurred two days after the in-custody death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, and days after his arrest, a protest held at La Mesa police headquarters devolved into looting and rioting after dark. Christina will discuss the impact that the anti-police movement has had on her community and her family.
